What a glorious herb season this has been. We've studied in the cottage classroom, in the herb garden, at the BQ Barn and in the field. We've studied the written word and participated in the alchemy of transforming plant material into remedies to nourish and heal our bodies. We've picked leaves, plucked flowers and dug roots. Our shelves are filled with green and golden oils and tinctures and salves. Leaves are drying on shelves, in bags and hanging from the ceiling.
What a blessing it is to participate in the cyclical life of herbs. Heavenly Father endowed each plant with its own particular set of constituents that benefits our bodies. We have this synergistic relationship with the plant world that He designed for our benefit; we cannot live without them and they cannot live without us.
I love this month set aside just for Thanksgiving and one of the things I am most grateful for is the Plant Kingdom. May we enter this holy season with love, appreciation and gratitude for this world and all that our Creator has shared with us.
